I began my career as a classroom teacher over 20 years ago after completing my Bachelor's Degree at Frostburg State University. I taught second grade, kindergarten, and the majority of my years in pre-kindergarten. In 2011, I graduated from Shippensburg University with my Masters of Education in School Counseling. I spent 7 years working as a Mobile Therapist in Pennsylvania before coming to Morgan County Schools in 2017.
Our school counseling program consists of classroom guidance lessons to address social and emotional needs; small group instruction on topics including: making friends, test anxiety, anger management, self regulation, conflict resolution, bullying, family changes, and other social/emotional needs; and individual counseling per request of the student.
As we know, growing up can be difficult and life has many challenges even for our children. As the school counselor I am here to help students develop their social and emotional health along side of their academic education. I encourage families to reach out when their child has any needs. I am able to work with students to provide supports and can provide outside resources to mental health providers in the area if needed.
