School officials are reminding families to help prevent the spread of illness by keeping students home when they are sick. Children should remain home if they experience symptoms such as a sore throat, fever over 100°F, severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, muscle aches, persistent cough or congestion, or unexplained rashes.
If a child has a fever or flu-like symptoms, health guidance recommends they stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medication.
Families can help reduce the spread of illness by encouraging frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding sharing drinks or utensils, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, and limiting close contact with others when sick. Students should also avoid extracurricular activities until they have been fever-free for 24 hours.
School staff appreciate the community’s support in keeping students healthy and maintaining a safe learning environment.
