For the month of January, we had 17 staff members with perfect attendance! They were: Suzanne Burhoe, Wes Eddy, Amy Glascock, Sherry Hartman, Sam Henry, MaryAlice Hobday, Rachel Hopkins, Kari Lacy, Tom Lacy, Lauren Mahoney, Holli McCumbee, Mitch Nida, Jason Smith, Danielle Swisher, Vickie Taylor, Chuck Walker, and Melissa Waugh! Three names were randomly selected, and those staff members (in the picture below) were given a token of appreciation! The Governor’s School for Entrepreneurship (GSE) fosters innovation, critical thinking, and a growth mindset while expanding students’ confidence and professional network. If you know current students in grades 9, 10, or 11 who may be interested, encourage them to contact their school counselor for more information. Attention Male Students:
BSHS is starting a Male Mentorship Program where students can meet with a designated mentor in education during their lunchtime once a week. During your mentorship time you will learn life skills, build relationships, and be able to discuss your plans for the future.

ATTENTION STUDENTS INTERESTED IN THE ASVAB!!!!
Our second ASVAB will be offered on March 4th, 2024 at 9:00 AM in the CEC Center. You MUST register to take this test. You can find the registration link on your "Class of---" Schoology page under resources in the folder labeled ASVAB Registration Forms. There are only 30 spots available. Registration will close on February 25th, 2024 at 3:30PM.

Governor's Schools are a FREE summer residential program that give you the opportunity to spend time at a college campus pursuing the above topics. Please see your school counselor for more details.

Interested in a leadership opportunity? Want to meet students from around the country? HOBY is an amazing opportunity where you get to grow your leadership skills and confidence while learning how to work as a team with other sophomores from around the country. In addition, you will develop your problem solving skills as you tackle challenges with your assigned group, and present your findings during the seminar!

Looking for an opportunity to participate in a challenge this summer? Sign up for Girls or Boys State! These camps allow students to learn more about leadership, community, and West Virginia by having them participate in a mock government where they hold various positions of political office. Students can also elect not to run for office, but hold other positions in the community or state.
Those who participate in Girls or Boys State, are eligible to win scholarships, to include the Samsung Scholarship that is up to $10,000. In addition, participants also gain merit points towards all US Military Service Academies.
