A few important reminders: *2 hour early dismissal (12:51) on Friday. *No school for students on Monday. *Picture orders are due to the school or online by Oct 10 (Tuesday). *Joe Corbi fundraisers are due to the school or online by Oct 10. Last year we sold over $30,000 (Yes!) of items. We are currently at $5,000. Let's see if we can beat last year. Proceeds are used to pay for things like assemblies, bounce houses, etc. Every penny helps.

In an effort to help improve the security of our students, all visitors to Widmyer will be required to show proper identification when signing out a child regardless of how well you know the staff member on duty. This includes students picked up during the day as well as after school. Please make sure that you have your photo identification with you before coming to the school. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to improve the safety of your children and our students.

Dear Widmyer Community, Please read and share this with your class. We're excited to announce that Dot Day is just around the corner, and we invite all students, teachers, and staff to join us in celebrating this creative and inspiring event on September 15th, 2023! Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration inspired by the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. It's a day when people of all ages make their mark, whether through art, storytelling, or other creative expressions, celebrating the idea that we all have the potential to make a positive impact on the world. Here's how you can get involved: Create Your Dot: Express yourself by creating your own dot artwork. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you like—just let your creativity flow! Wear Dots: On September 15th, we encourage everyone to wear clothing adorned with dots or even wear a dot on your cheek as a symbol of your participation. Share Your Dots: Share your dot creations on social media using the hashtags #DotDay and #MakeYourMark to connect with the global Dot Day community. Don't forget to tag our school too so that we can showcase your incredible work! Dot Day is a reminder that even a small dot can make a big difference in the world! We can't wait to see the dots you create and the enthusiasm you bring to this special day. Mark your calendars for September 15th and let's make it a day to remember! For more information and resources, visit https://www.internationaldotday.org/. Let's make our mark, Widmyer!

Stuff A Bus
As we prepare for school on Tuesday, please double heck your child's bus number. Morgan County was able to purchase some new buses over the summer, and we also made some changes to routing. Both have resulted in new bus numbers for many students. Make sure you know what bus your child rides. It is helpful on the first day of school if you put a note in his or her backpack with the updated bus number, child's name, and a reliable contact number. Thank you and we are excited to greet all the students on Tuesday!

We're so excited to share this community support adventure with you. Our Communities In Schools Site Coordinator, the CIS Site Coordinators in the rest of the county, our bus drivers, social workers, community partners, Berkeley Springs Food Lion, and so many more gracious staff members are teaming up to bring you 'Stuff A Bus' from August 28th to September 1st, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, to collect BASIC NEEDS items. ‘Stuff A Bus’ hopes to collect enough items so that EVERY MoCo student can have a clean, fresh and full start to their mornings. We are looking for soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, socks, underwear and other hygiene products that many may go without, along with self-serve healthy snacks such as tuna packets, peanut butter crackers, easy mac, applesauce cups, etc. Please reach out to Sherrie Byrd, at 304-258-2024, if you would like to volunteer for this collaborative effort.

As we prepare for the opening of school, it is important that we have all documentation on file. For Kindergarten students and new enrollments, please make sure that we have up to date immunizations and legal documents. Our secretary will be available July 25, 8:30-2:00 to assist you. Additionally, there is drop box by the main doors for after hours delivery. All immunizations must be in prior to the start of school. Missing immunizations will prevent your child from starting school on August 22. Thank you.
