This past Saturday on a rainy morning the Warm Springs Middle School Wolves cross country team hosted the 2023 MAC Cross Country Championships at the beautiful but ever challenge course at the school campus. Despite the rainy weather Capon Bridge Middle, Charles Town Middle, Harper’s Ferry, Romney Middle, Shepherdstown Middle, Warm Springs Middle, and Wildwood Middle were ready to compete. With the seven teams and over 100 runners the stage was set for an exciting championship meet.
The Wolves team did not have enough runners to qualify for a team score. However, the Wolves did have one runner earn a top fifteen placement. Seventh grader Josh Morgan finished in sixth place with a time of 13:41 to earn All MAC honors.
Seventh grader Josh Lucas (21st place, 15:02), senior Logan Mills (22nd place, 15:04), and sixth grader Greyson Beckman (43rd place, 18:07) all ran well for Warm Springs.
On the girl’s side the Lady Wolves finished in fifth place in the team standings. Warm Springs was led by eighth grader Bella Shoemaker who finished in fifth place with a time of 14:57 to earn All MAC honors.
Seventh grader Shana Stotler (16th place, 15:54), seventh grader Carley Fauver (21st place, 16:36), sixth grader Ella Rosensteel (31st place, 18:06), sixth grader Ainsleigh Coulter (39th place, 20:01), and sixth grader Candace Sealey (40th place, 20:08) all ran well for Warm Springs.
