Morgan County Schools were made aware of a threat made via social media involving Berkeley Springs High School. We immediately began working with our local law enforcement and their FBI partners to establish the credibility of this threat and take all necessary precautions. Parents/guardians of students that were mentioned in the threat have been notified directly. At this time, there is no credible threat to student safety.
Any threats will be evaluated by local law enforcement and school officials, and all appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken. Please always remember if you see something, say something. Safety is a team effort.
BSHS Physical Education classes had the opportunity to play in an Ultimate Frisbee tournament today to wrap up their two-week unit. The tournament had 7 teams and was double elimination. There were over 80 sophomore students watching and/or participating in the tournament! Great turn out! Great support! Great effort! Congrats to the top three teams: 1st place = Mr. Dowrey’s 3rd period, 2nd place = Mr. Griffith’s 2nd period, 3rd place = Mr. Griffith’s 3rd period. GO INDIANS!!!

National Honor Society of Dance Arts (NHSDA) students participated in the United Way Day of Caring on Tuesday. They spent the morning at the Ice House helping paint the Paradox Hall. Thankful for opportunities to support and give back to our community.

All seniors at BSHS have been invited to attend the Shepherd University College Fair on 10/8/24. Any student who would like to attend MUST turn in their permission form to Mrs. Lyons by 10/1/24. ATTENTION 10th GRADE STUDENTS!!!!!
All 10th grade students at BSHS have been invited to tour James Rumsey Technical Institute (JRTI) and view potential program opportunities available to them for their Junior and Senior years of high school. Any student who would like to attend this trip on 10/10/24 MUST turn in a permission form to Mrs. Lyons by 10/4/24.
Copies of the permission form and more details about this trip can be found on the "Class of 2027" Schoology page under the resources tab in the folder labeled "James Rumsey Technical Institute".
Statement from Morgan County Schools and Local Law Enforcement:
We consider the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. Along with all other State Superintendents, a conference call was completed late this morning with members of the West Virginia Department of Education and Homeland Security. During that meeting, a social media post with a list of high schools was shared with Superintendents. Neither Berkeley Springs High School or Paw Paw High School was listed on that social media post with 40+ high schools throughout the state of West Virginia. There have been NO specific threats received or reported to local law enforcement or Morgan County Schools.
We will continue to monitor this situation and will continue to communicate with local law enforcement. If you see something on social media (including snapchat) do not re-share it, call 911. Again, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Updated Statement from Morgan County Schools and Local Law Enforcement:
Upon further investigation, law enforcement has concluded that the Morgan County student’s threat on social media (on 9/10/2024) has been deemed not credible. Our investigation concluded that the student had taken a screenshot of a threat posted by a student in a neighboring state. Unfortunately, there have been a series of social media threats throughout the region and country the past 2-3 days. Social media threats occur frequently and law enforcement is actively investigating each and every threat reported and providing us with ongoing updates. We take the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. There is no reason to believe that any school in our area is in danger and students should feel safe attending school tomorrow.
