Hello! My name is Mylissa Daniels and I am excited to be coming on board as the Assistant Principal at Widmyer Elementary School. I have a BA in Organizational Leadership, a MA in Early Intervention (Special Education) and a MA in Educational Administration. I have a daughter that is an Art teacher in Berkeley County and a 10 yr old son. I have worked in BCS as a Special Education Teacher for 17 years and I am already feeling right at home interacting with the Morgan County staff and people. I have worked with children for the past 32 years and my passion for students and families hasn’t wavered. I bring patience and knowledge on positive behavior support that will be an addition to skills of education and leadership. I am pleased to start my career here in Morgan County.

2nd grade students at Widmyer will be participating in a step up day tomorrow, May 31st. They will be traveling by bus to Warm Springs Intermediate School where they will tour the facility and see classrooms for next year. The 2nd grade students will be leaving Widmyer at approximately 12:30 and will return by the end of the day.
At approximately 11:15 am this morning, Widmyer staff was made aware of a domestic concern via phone. There were no threats made, and no students were in danger. However, out of an abundance of caution, Widmyer entered a modified lock down to help ensure the safety of students and staff. Law enforcement did assist with the concern as an exercise of caution. We resumed normal activities at approximately 11:57 am. Widmyer faculty and staff value the safety of your children. We appreciate your patience and support in these matters.
Tomorrow is our annual water and field day. We will be holding the event rain or shine. Because many of the activities are being moved inside, the event is closed to the public. Please make sure that you send a complete change of clothes, including shoes and underwear, with your child in a plastic bag. Also, send a filled water bottle with your child.
As as reminder there is no school on Monday, May 30th for Memorial Day and the last day of school for students is Wednesday, June 1st.
First Grade at Widmyer has been all over town! They started their adventures last week at Cacapon State Park and explored the Ice House, Court House, CNB Bank, the Country Inn, the Library AND the Star Theatre this week!! Every business who hosted our students was so welcoming and gracious and our First Graders were on their best behavior! Thank you Berkeley Springs for the tour of the town!!

Shouting a Big Thank You to the Rotary Club for sponsoring another year of ten amazing books for all our 2nd grade classrooms!

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month students have helped Ms. Lacee decorate a banner of positive affirmations to post in the main office. The banner is a reminder to all staff, students and families that you matter, you are seen, and you are heard. Please be aware that Ms. Lacee is available for counseling services throughout the summer and can be reached via email at lacee.kidwell@k12.wv.us or by calling WES at 304-258-2024.

Tomorrow (May 25), we will be collecting iPads to keep over the summer. Please make sure your child brings his/her iPad and cords to school tomorrow.
