Join Morgan County Schools in congratulating the 2023 winners of the Golden Horseshoe! Each year three top-scoring students from Morgan County are selected to receive the prestigious Golden Horseshoe Award. Selection is based on the Golden Horseshoe Test, which has been administered in West Virginia since 1931 and is the longest-running program of its kind in any state. WSMS students Jeremiah Clark, Zachary Stallard, and Rhaina Botticher will be inducted as Knights of the Golden Horseshoe Society this June.

Congratulations to Elias Lyda, Emery Shives, and Estella Powell who represented Morgan County in the WV State Social Studies Fair on April 14. Elias placed third with his psychology project, Electronics on the Brain. Emery also placed third with her sociology project, Got Game: The History and Benefits of Board Games. Estella placed first in WV with her anthropology project, Escaping the Trail of Tears: How my Cherokee Ancestors Came to WV. Achieving at the state level takes a lot of practice and dedication. We are so proud of each of you!
