It is happening. Morgan County WV has its very own WVICL affiliated youth composite mountain bike team! What does composite mean? It means that the team will accept 6th -12th grade students from the surrounding area to include MD. PA. and VA. At times there aren't any local teams and this makes participating accessible for many.
The official NICA season starts in July but we wanted to get in some preseason activities. As such, we are planning a team meet and greet with the coaches at 10am this coming June 15th at the Cacapon State Park. We'll meet near the Rock and Roll trailhead. Look for the Canopy that will be set up in the area. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and for everyone to interact.
We will not be doing any trail riding for this event. The plan is to focus on games and other activities that everyone can participate in, regardless of skill level. A serviceable bike and helmet are sufficient. We will have team loaner bikes on hand as well.
For those that want to get ahead and register now. Let me know and I'll send you the registration link directly. If you are looking to volunteer as a coach let me know and I'll send you a link to get the process started. If you have any questions about either, feel free to reach out.
There is a Waiver that will need to be filled out by everyone not yet fully registered in the Pit Zone. Please get these done as soon as possible. Please note the hot links for WVICL, NICA and Waiver for more info.
Hope to see you there!

League Core Principles:
Equality
All student-athletes are treated equally. Team scores are a combination of points scored by both boys and girls.
Inclusiveness
All student-athletes participate 100% of the time. No one is “benched” and everyone is encouraged to try racing, irrespective of how fast – or slow – they may be.
Strong Body
NICA emphasizes wellness through lifestyle, nutrition and exercise. Improving physical fitness and overall wellness are at the center of NICA’s training and education.
Strong Mind
NICA student-athletes are students first. Our program encourages academic excellence.
Strong Character

We were glad to host the Ohio Canid Center and Ozzy today. The students enjoyed the presentation today.

Good evening! Tomorrow those students in grades 6-8 who have earned the GSA/IXL incentives will be attending the WSMS School Carnival. There will be a food truck on site for students to bring money and purchase funnel cakes, nachos, or butterfly fries. We encourage those students who will be outside for the events to dress appropriately, bring sun screen, and water. We also want to let our parents & guardians know that the bus loop will be blocked off for this event from 7:30 AM (set-up) until 2:00 PM. Please park on the gym side and come down the sidewalk to the main entrance to enter our building.
Tuesday evening those students who earned the bowling trip on Wednesday will be bringing home a permission slip so they can attend the event. This has be to returned back to homeroom teachers on Wednesday morning or students will not be permitted to attend. The bowling alley will have concessions available for purchase along with arcade games for students.

Mrs. Ackerman’s class spent testing week studying foods. 🎉 We studied foods from the 1900s world fairs and compared them with treats from 21st-century fairs. 🍔🍕 To top it off, we ended our study by making a fair favorite: cotton candy! 🍭✨

Congratulations to the Golden Horseshoe Winners!

This week, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with engaging daily trivia questions and a delightful nacho bar! Students eagerly participated in trivia each day, earning themselves complimentary coupons for the nacho bar. Witnessing their enthusiasm as they correctly answered questions and received coupons was truly delightful! Additionally, in true middle school fashion, the students found extra joy in wearing the icing from the cupcakes – it was the icing on the cake of our festivities!

8th grade parents and guardians please see the Warm Springs Middle School Facebook page for more information on the May 23 promotion ceremony.

With state testing just around the corner, take a look at these valuable tips that can help guide your preparation. Remember, being well-prepared is key to success!
