My favorite thing about school is: The teachers! Great teachers make a difference! They care about every student, bring learning to life, and even add a little fun to the day. Regular attendance helps students build meaningful connections with their teachers and get the support they need to succeed. Keep showing up and learning with the best!

This month's Capturing Kids Hearts theme is Perseverance. What is Perseverance? Perseverance is the willingness and ability to keep going when things are tough. People who persevere show steadfastness and give the extra effort needed to do something despite how hard it is or how long it takes to reach the goal. Why focus on Perseverance? Perseverance encourages positive self-talk and thinking. When faced with difficult tasks, perseverance helps students reframe with positive thoughts, such as: "I'm not good at this YET!" Perseverance develops empathy. Students gain a better understanding of who they are and develop more empathy and compassion for others who may struggle to reach a goal. Perseverance sparks personal growth. Pushing through complex tasks builds resilience and helps students discover how capable they are.

Mrs. Kesecker's Math 7 classes were exploring ratios through a hands-on activity with M&Ms. They especially enjoyed the lesson, as they got to eat M&Ms after completing the assignment.

My favorite thing about school is: Math! Math helps us solve problems, think critically, and prepare for the future. Every lesson builds on the last, so attending school every day makes a big difference in mastering new skills. Keep showing up and growing your math skills!
