Morgan County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Joan Smith as Director of Technology, effective March 2, 2026.

Ms. Smith brings more than 25 years of technology experience to this role. Since joining Morgan County Schools in 2011, she has served in several key positions within the Technology Department, including Technology Systems Specialist, Data and Communications Manager, supporting staff and students across the district.

Ms. Smith shared that she has “big shoes to fill,” but is excited for the opportunity to continue working with and supporting the Technology Team as they move forward together. She looks forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and continuing to provide high-quality technology support for students, staff, and schools across the county. She also extends her sincere appreciation to Mr. Tom Shade for his leadership and dedication to Morgan County Schools and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
